Thank you for visiting our website!

Somerset Hills Art Collective (SHAC) provides a public showcase for local artists to display and sell their work in prominent locations within our community. LINDA LAM

Oil Painter & Muralist

Born in China into a famous bloodline of artists, Linda’s grandfather, Gu Kunbo (1905-1970) is considered one of the worlds most renowned East Asian Chinese Masters of his time. From a young age, art was a way of life for Linda. She learned much from her grandfather as he was the principal founder of new methods of teaching Chinese landscape painting. However, in China landscape art was typically a male subject, and Linda was encouraged instead to paint flowers and gardens. Here is where the building blocks for her indescribably realistic oil painting skills came to life. Each flower she paints has a life and personality which she is effortlessly able to transfer to the canvas. Her masterly use of light to translate the three-dimensional into two-dimensional is her trademark.

Linda celebrates the Somerset Hills and paints daily from its endless supply of native flora. She is an incredible woman and artist, and we are so fortunate to have her works exhibited within our Gallery. Her passion for preserving the natural landscape around her has inspired her to generously donate a large portion of her proceeds from this exhibit to The Somerset Land Preservation Trust.

Linda Lam's work will be on display from September 2023 - April 2024.
